A long, long time ago, monsters and magic ruled the land. Witches and jealous stepmothers schemed behind every princess. Hungry beasts lurked in every shadow. Honor and glory were only attained through certain death. And happily ever after was for the few.

If man could not rid the world of this dark magic… they would control it.

Damsel is a dark comedy reimagining of classic Grimm and Arthurian fairy tales.

Murphey has been brewing this story for fifteen years. She has always been interested in psychology, so once the question came to mind, it festered into the beginnings of a story. It started as short comic strips sketched on receipt paper when she was an overnight server at iHop and continued to grow into a whole world over the passing years. The question?

What would happen to the mind of a princess locked away, alone, for eighteen years?

Princess Katrina is taken from her home just moments after her birth and hidden away in a high tower. There, she must await her assigned Prince to embark on a routine Damsel In Distress Extraction™ to free her.

There's no danger to her in this new, monster-free world except for boredom from waiting... and waiting.... and waiting..... and waiting....... Oh come on, where is he?!

What happens to the mind of a bright young girl when she's locked in a tower for eighteen years with only a witch as company? Even worse... what happens when the eighteenth year goes by, and no one comes for her? Then the nineteenth... and the twentieth...

Follow Katrina as she discovers the world is not what she learned it to be from the books in her library. Her prince was bound to her by duty, not love. "Witch" is an outdated and offensive term. And the dark forces that plague her are a thing of the past... she must be exaggerating.
